  • June 2008, Wine and Cheese Function
    The Friends of German Culture hosted another International Wine and Cheese function at the Cedarhurst Community Club House. The theme for the evening was to simply relax from a stressful day, mingle with members, friends and guests and let your palate enjoy imported and domestic wines, savor cheeses from around the world and enjoy the hors d oeuvres.

  • April 2008, Panoply Global Pavilion
    In April of 2008, the Friends of German Culture was again an active participant in the Panoply Arts festival. This event was held in downtown Huntsville, Alabama. The Panoply Arts festival is truly a Huntsville Tradition! Annually the last full weekend in April, Panoply features performances, demonstrations, activities and fun, all while promoting, coordinating and enhancing the arts.

  • December 2007, Christmas Luncheon
    Holiday musical entertainment was by the Huntsville Community Children’s Chores directed by Suzanne Purtee. In addition, Franz and Ingrid Gericke again delighted us with their German musical Christmas renditions played on the Zither and Tuba. The awards presentation for retiring board members was announced at the function.

  • Summer 2007, Friends of German Culture Annual Picnic
    The Board of Directors of the Friends of German Culture invited all its members and guests to our Annual 2007 Picnic on Monte Sano Mountain. Ingrid and Franz Gericke (from Siemens VDO) delighted us with their musical renditions played on the Zither and Tuba.

  • June 2007, Wine and Cheese Tasting Function at the Huntsville Cedarhurst Community Club House
    To kick off the 2007 summer season, the Board of Directors of the Friends of German Culture decided to host another International Wine and Cheese tasting party at the Cedarhurst Community Club House.   • May 2007, Huntsville High School Student Awards for 2007
    In recognition of academic achievement in German language studies, high school students from Lee High, Huntsville High, Grissom High, J.O. Johnson High, and Catholic High were presented with German language awards.

  • December 2006, Christmas Luncheon
    The Madrigal Singers. A Huntsville Community capella choir of 12 auditioned voices which performs music from all historical periods. Also, Leslie Gesele from Sterling Travel talked to the group about 2007 cruise opportunities on the Queen Mary 2 from New York to Hamburg.

  • August 2006, Annual Picnic
    The board of directors of Friends of German Culture invited all its members and guests to our annual picnic on Monte Sano Mountain at the Monte Sano Club Pool. As in the past 3 years, the picnic was catered by Kurt (“Catering by Kurt”) from the Senior Center with a mouthwatering selection of German cuisine.

  • May, 2006 - von Braun Forum
    The MSFC Director Dave King featured a panel of Peenemuende Oldtimers at the “Wernher von Braun Forum.” Remarks include thoughts of the initiative to return to the Moon and to travel to Mars and Beyond.

  • April, 2006 - Panoply Global Village-German Pavilion
    The 2006 Panoply was held in downtown Huntsville, Alabama and Friends of German Culture hosted a pavilion.

  • April, 2006 - Student Awards
    In recognition of academic achievement in German language studies, FOGC representatives Al Reisz and Gisela Rieger presented High School German language awards to students from Lee High, Huntsville High, Grissom High, J.O. Johnson High, and Catholic High.
